The All Volunteer Force at 50

The United States shifted to the All-Volunteer Force on July 1, 1973, impacting the way the military services recruit, retain, manage, and care for service members. The Assistant Secretaries of Manpower and Reserve Affairs for the military departments set the strategic direction, develop policy, allocate resources, and supervise all matters of human capital in the military services. This panel session will provide a conversation between the Assistant Secretaries of Manpower and Reserve Affairs regarding current approaches to recruitment, retention, talent management, and quality of life issues for service members.
