Jake Brooke

Participant, The Pitch


Jake Brooke is a contractor in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor within the Office of East Asian & Pacific Affairs. In his capacity, Jake has worked on monitoring human rights developments across the East Asia region, with a particular focus on China and Myanmar. He has also actively spearheaded efforts to assist and protect asylum seekers and human rights defenders. Jake is a graduate student at Johns Hopkins SAIS where he is pursuing a Master of Arts in International Relations. He also serves as an Ordnance Officer within the Army National Guard. Jake holds a B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University. He currently resides in Arlington and is proud to call Virginia home.

The Pitch

“The U.S. Department of State should establish a new Public Health Officers cone. Public Health officers would better enable the U.S. to collect needed information on biosecurity concerns, contain disease outbreaks, and empower America’s diplomats to confront global health challenges.”
